At Lilliesleaf Primary School we pride ourselves on offering our children a broad range of exciting learning experiences. Below are some snapshots of the learning that takes place at our amazing school.

Coding in primary school

In primary we begin to explore the concept of programming or coding. In this picture some pupils form P1/2/3 are programming a robot to follow a set of commands. At this stage learners are challenged to refine commands to solve various challenges.

Outdoor Learning

At Lilliesleaf we are lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful natural environment. We try to exploit outdoor learning opportunities wherever possible. Our teachers are a creative bunch who are adept at creating a wide range of experiences to help consolidate learning. Whether it is solar systems in the snow, or spelling practice on the playground floor, our learners always enjoy outdoor learning.
Critical Reading

Critical reading skills challenge our learners to think about the material they encounter in greater detail. This is done by using a range of higher order thinking skills. Why don't you watch the short animation 'Home Sweet Home' and try answering the some of the 'evaluative questions'...

Are the characters meant to look like real people? Why do you think this is so?

Do the background colours change? Why do you think this happens?

What use is made of silence? What effect does this have on you?
Makes you think, doesn't it?
